Information on the Photo Below

Helena Telkänranta, Director of WEPA, is a zoologist with extensive experience in various conservation and animal welfare NGO’s. She currently works as a researcher specializing in animal behaviour and welfare, especially in designing improved housing for captive animals. In 2005, she started developing WEPA as a way of creating a new kind of a way to bring benefits to animals and people at the same time: a co-operative approach, joining the forces of Eastern and Western experts and bringing the fruits of scientific knowledge available for elephant trainers in the field.
